Colors of Fall are right around the corner

Where did he summer go? I'm in awe over the new colors that are part of nature. Vibrant, full, fascinating color that almost sing, as nature unfolds bright purple asters, that blend with the yellow late blooming mums. Reds, yellows, oranges, deep purples, all remind me that the heat we have been tolerating, will soon be replaced with the cool days of Autumn. It inspires my art to a whole new pallet of colors, busily drawing leaves, Halloween pumpkins and deep purple grapes, as they're ready to harvest. Suddenly we are looking at Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner, followed by the New Year. We realize another year has passed with its shifting seasons, each bringing its own flavor and vision of color. While others are up to their elbows canning and preserving their fall harvest, I plan on preserving my bounties in art for others to enjoy for years to come. I love the sights and smells of the changing of the seasons, and wonder if I have throughly savored each change nature brings us. I plan on really observing the colors, tints, hues and the fullness of this fall. I hope it continues to inspire my art so I can share the beauty around all of us every day with you. The Versitility of the Dawg Group

Dawg stands for Designing Artist Women's Group, and this group lives up to that name. There are many talented artisan's that are members of this group. although it was started as an ACEO (Art Cards, Editions and Originals) Group it has evolved into a group that embraces all different mediums, sizes, and types of art. We have ACEO artist that work in collage, oil, watercolor, color pencil, needle felting, you name the medium and one of us works in it. We have artist that work in large size oils and watercolors, we have a porcelain artist, jewelry makers, those that crochet, embroidery and many other crafts. We make mini albums, iris fold, pen and ink, art journals. We have collaborated on a quilt that was auctioned off and proceeds donated to help fight breast cancer. We also collaborated on 8 ACEO's Round Robin style, finished works were put into a mini album and it will be sold with proceeds going to help a mission in Haiti. Strawberries aceo

So this month's quest is Garden Goodies, and I got to thinking that I really haven't done any food art, except an apple aceo I did one time to show someone how to do shadows. Well, I don't have much of a garden, just tomatoes, and they are all still very green. I did however, have a bunch of strawberries in the fridge. Now, they didn't come from my garden, but they obviously came from a garden. : ) So I took out three ripe and luscious strawberries, got my watercolor pencils and got busy. I do believe I am going to work a bit more on the shadow though, especially directly under the strawberries.
I also did an aceo for our Art Swap, the theme is State Fair, and I love how it turned out. I can't post it now because I don't want to ruin the surprise for the recipient.
