I've been under the weather lately with bronchitis, so I haven't been up to doing much art. But last weekend I was cuddled up on the recliner under a blanket, with a sketchbook, a pad of watercolor paper and my watercolor pencils.
I first tried painting the wolf in pink since it's Breast Cancer Awareness month...but I didn't like how it was turning out. I had done a Pink Tiger aceo a few years ago that I just love, but a pink wolf was not a go.
This is what I then came up with. I call it Wolf At Rest, and am thinking of using it for my Christmas cards this year. The reference photo was taken a few years back at a wolf sanctuary in Forest Lake, MN. I do have to admit that I really like how it turned out, and I already created products with this image at my Zazzle Shop.
Coming soon is a beautiful pink and yellow rose painting that I did before I got sick, but it still needs some finishing touches. I will post it when I get it finished.
I hope you are well.
Blessings to you all,
hugs,
Brenda

Art Chat
So today is my day to blog and I was scratching my head wondering what I should share today. Then it came to me. I have a link some of you might not be familiar with. It's called Art Chat - It was formerly the Chatty Teacher's site. http://porcelainartist.proboards.com/
It started out as a porcelain art (china painting) discussion and ended up with all kinds of art information. It has photos for artists to reference. It
includes general art discussions with health and safety information, free lessons, information on watercolors, clay art, glass art, oils and acrylic. It's free to join.
It is a fun site. And if you are so inclined to want to learn our art of china painting, that would be the place to get the information.
Pictured here is a piece of my porcelain art. The apples are china painted on a porcelain plate. China paints are fired in a kiln and the paints go into the glaze so that means that they are permanent. They will never wear off and you can put them in the microwave and dishwasher. It is available in my Etsy shop - JYWheeler
Here's the direct link to the item:

Fun with paint...
I had so much fun working with Daniel Smith duochrome paint that I had to do more.
The background is cactus flower and the bamboo in the background is desert bronze and saquaro green.
At one angle it appears bronze or gold, at another angle shades of green are visible.
The top layer of bamboo is sap green.
I haven't been able to capture the different colors in a photo, yet!
